Angur - a Pagan Black Metal Band from Rhineland-Palatine - dedicated their first album to medieval sagas and the darkness of
rough Metal.
Besides the typical rock music instruments Angur use a hurdy gurdy and also flutes to breathe new life into folk music. In 2011 Angur published their first studio album which deals especially with the Nibelungenlied. It is an epic trip down memory lane.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around the sheer glory this album is. Being a German BM head, I have of course heard of Firtan before, but never really had the incentive or time to check them out. The release of Marter changed that; yet I wanted to start with Okeanos - an album so good that I still have not listened to its successor. A crisp pagan vibe, fantastic melodies and a definitive proof that an amazing sound does not automatically ruin a great black metal album. Fantastisch!

I finally got B II because I wanted something brilliant and truthful to pair with The Rime of Memory, and then I inexplicably remembered that someone’s review of it on here had mentioned Panopticon. Thanks, Metallurgical Fire, I owe you! PS — I no longer deserve to walk the earth for sitting on this like an idiot for so long. Truly, it’s a metal master class and a work of art.
